Focus on YOUR way forward

Focus on YOUR way forward! Now it's getting serious; the first steps in real life. You have thought about where to grow on (Goal). And why you choose this goal to grow on (Reality). The previous step was on your possibilities for doing this (Options). Now we will focus on and select the best option to reach your goal (Way).

Discipline is now your biggest challenge. The process is in its final phase, and you will start implementing your plan. How are you coping with setbacks? Are you rigid or flexible while putting the chosen option(s) into practice? Do feelings of hesitation occur? Before stepping out in the world doing your 'Way', give yourself the time to make this Way to Act specific and explicit. Let's look into that a bit further. In the former chapter, I explained that science has shown that it is good to write things down. While writing or typing (in modern times), you structure your thoughts. This is because the thoughts in your head are being combined with what your eyes see.

Next to that: everything you write down becomes a reality. More conscious information influences decisions. That's why it is good to write findings down on paper. You should write down what you will do tomorrow regarding this specific way to reach the chosen goal. Make time to attend to the motivations to strive for this goal and why you support this chosen way. You can become a bit insecure, so spend enough time discussing the way and how to make it work. The Way to Act is written down in a plan, and your attitude must be focused on acting. Learning while putting this way into practice. Although the iGROW model is designed to reach a goal, the actual reaching of the goal is even as crucial as the journey. It is your blueprint towards the chosen destination.

Remember that you can jump between the stages of the iGROW model and fine-tune the whole process. Leave rigidity outside and be flexible. While using the different stages - but mainly during the Way stage - new goals pop up. The advice is not to ignore them but to take an inventory of these new goals. Make a digital list and document them.

This list will be handy the next time you decide to continue your journey to becoming the best version of yourself.
